Tom Cruise out of MI:4!!!

from ONTD:

It appears that Tom Cruise isn't putting all his eggs into the Valkyrie basket. Valkyrie, you'll recall, is the Bryan Singer-directed thriller in which Cruise plays a German officer who tried to assassinate Hitler. That project has hit some bumps on its way to theaters. Meanwhile, Cruise is also making an attempt to go back to his roots. But making that happen isn't simple: It seems that the Cruise camp recently reached out to Paramount about making Mission: Impossible 4 and got seriously disavowed.

Paramount's response was to ask whether Cruise would like to produce the film—as in, produce but not star in. And, since he's contractually guaranteed the right to produce such a film at this point, it wasn't much of an offer. This tells us not to read too much into that supposed rapprochement between Cruise and Sumner Redstone. And it suggests that the fighting between Cruise and Paramount studio chief Brad Grey over the deal for M:I3 was a lot more rancorous than we knew at the time.

We don't want to keep you in suspense: Cruise's answer was no. Our source tells us that Paramount met this with a shrug, since in the not-too-distant future the studio expects that it will be free, contractually, to make the movie without involving Cruise's production company. Some film executives say they think Paramount is being foolish, because they believe there is an avid audience for Cruise in this role. After all, the last one grossed about $400 million worldwide. (Maybe M:I4 could pair Cruise with Shia LaBoeuf as the young successor.) But Paramount seems to think it could relaunch the franchise with a young star and leave Cruise out of the equation.

I Still Think $citard Tom is Crazy

from gossip rocks, who bothered to piece this together, so I didn't have to...Also I have no plans to bother with seeing Mission Impossible 4:

Tom Cruise to Oprah:
"I Have Been Misunderstood"

Friday May 2, 2008

Harpo Productions, Inc.
In the first part of his interview with Oprah Winfrey (airing Friday), Tom Cruise reveals that he jumped on her couch in 2005 because he was so in love with Katie Holmes and couldn't contain himself.

Winfrey confessed that the incident caught her by surprise.

"When we finished that show with you jumping up on the sofa, I was like, 'Wow. What was that?'" she tells him in an interview in his Telluride, Colo., home. "I had no idea it was going to turn into an international brouhaha, as I'm sure you did not either."

She even confesses, "I was a little nervous coming up this morning, I have to admit, because you and I have not sat down for a real conversation since the sofa incident."

Cruise tells Winfrey, "I just felt that way, and I feel that way about her.

"I can't even articulate it, to be honest," he adds. "That feeling, that connection. Just who she is and what she means to me."

Of the negative response to his couch jumping, Cruise says, "It just kind of kept going.

"Those things I kind of go, 'You just have to take in stride.' It just kind of became a confluence of things."

ON ATTACKING MATT LAUER

He also opened up about his 2005 interview with Matt Lauer (Cruise attacked the anchor, calling him "glib" during a chat about psychiatry and the use of anti-depressant drugs).

"I was feeling pressed in the interview with Matt Lauer," Cruise says. "For me, my issue was really about child drugging. It's not like it is today, like people are really kind of openly talking about this."

(Cruise now says of medicating children, "I think the parent should be able to and should make that decision.")

ON SLAMMING BROOKE SHIELDS

He says his comments on post-partum depression "came out wrong." (He slammed Brooke Shields in the same 2005 interview for taking Paxil to treat post-partum depression following the birth of her daughter Rowan.)

"What I regret is even discussing Brooke in any way," Cruise says.

He says the incident has brought the two of them "closer" (Shields attended his 2006 wedding to Holmes.)

ON BEING A SCIENTOLOGIST

Cruise dodges Winfrey's question about whether he feels people negatively target him because of his Scientology involvement.

"It's a minority religion, and I think that sometimes people misinterpret [it]," he says. "I think the best thing is for people to read about it themselves. I believe people have the right to choose what they believe in.

"The code of Scientologists says you respect the religious beliefs of others," Cruise adds. "That's part of being a Scientologist, and that's who I am as a person."

In January, videos leaked online of Cruise at Scientology events discussing the religion. He says the footage "was stolen. I was receiving an award that evening for global literacy. It was a very private moment. I'm actually talking to my congregation."

"It's [taken] totally out of context," he adds.

ON KEEPING SURI HIDDEN FOR SO LONG

Lots of rumors spread about their daughter, Suri, because the couple kept her hidden after she was born. Some blogs speculated that the child was deformed. That talk, Cruise says, was "hard to hear.

"We just want to have our baby, have the kids and everyone get to know Suri, get the family up here and just chill and have that time that you never get back," he explains. "You don't ever get those moments back."

On waiting three months to publish her photo in Vanity Fair in 2006, Cruise says, "Kate and I didn't feel any need to [rush] it. We said, 'Why? It's our family.' We just were on Suri time."

ON HIS MARRIAGE WITH HOLMES BEING FAKE

"That's laughable to me," Cruise says. 'You just know that they're trying to sell it and spin it."

He says Holmes' Catholic family has welcomed him.

"They're amazing. I love them," Cruise says. "You see why Kate is such an amazing woman -- incredible integrity and strength. They're family."

ON RUMORS THAT HE HAS PUSHED NICOLE KIDMAN OUT OF THEIR KIDS' LIVES

"No, that's ridiculous," he says. "We share custody. That's what it is."

ON HIS REPUTATION

"Listen I, I feel like definitely things have been misunderstood, and there are things I could have done better," Cruise admits. "But then there's also that world where you go, 'Oh, it's been spun to such an extent that ... that's a truth also.'

He continues, "Knowing when and where to communicate, I think that's important.

"A lot of times I was nervous giving interviews. Or I wasn't sometimes as comfortable about things. And I realized that it's okay.

"There's stuff you have to just let go," Cruise adds. "I just have to do the best I can."

Is United Artists doing that badly?

March 28, 2008 -- TOM Cruise and Sumner Redstone are settling their differences and getting ready to work together again. Redstone, the cantankerous head of Viacom and CBS, fired Cruise two years ago after Cruise jumped on Oprah Winfrey's couch to demonstrate his love for Katie Holmes and then went on "Today" to promote "Mission: Impossible III," but instead went on a tirade against prescription drugs. But the two had lunch yesterday at the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel, one of LA's most public places for a rapprochement. "Tom is missing Paramount. He needs a hit," explained one Angeleno.

Katie Holmes having the life sucked out of her!

But when did you not know that since she got chained to the crazy midget?

from IDLYITW:

The pressure of being a robot wife with no independent thought is apparently too much for Katie Holmes as she has been reportedly suffering from dizzy spells and debilitating headaches for weeks. Although the cause of these blackouts and fainting spells is unknown, sources say that Katie Holmes, even though very thin, wants to be skinnier and is obsessed with dieting. Star Magazine reports:

When Katie recently lunched at her favorite restaurant, L.A.'s Joan's on Third, it was obvious that something was terribly wrong. She seemed exhausted, her skin was pale, and she looked feeble and emaciated. "She gave us a weak smile and wave before leaving out the back door," says an eyewitness at the restaurant. Once outside, a confused and unsteady Katie braced herself against the doorframe before her bodyguard carefully guided her into a waiting SUV."

However, the main reason for Katie Holmes' health problems appears to be Tom Cruise himself. With his high energy and intensity coupled with his exacting nature, Holmes appears to be crumbling under Cruise's unrealistic expectations:

To complicate matters even further, while Tom goes off for days at a time ("His rule is 'You can be with me, but don't ask about it,'" says a source), Katie is overseeing the interior design of their lavish $35 million Beverly Hills mansion. "To him, the home is a status symbol," says a source, "so it's on Katie's shoulders to pull off something beyond magnificent, something Tom can brag about. She's giving herself headaches thinking about it and making herself sick."

Man, poor Katie. Headaches? A $35 million mansion? When oh when will God deliver her from this suffering?

*In other words, "you can be with me but don't ask my pillow-biter about it"*

Here's more from Star Magazine:

Dizzy spells like this have become a frighteningly common occurrence for Katie over the past few weeks. As one source explains to Star, Katie has been suffering from splitting headaches that make her see black spots and feel faint. Another problem? Her weight. Although she's already rail thin, she feels pressure to be even slimmer and is obsessive about dieting.

Katie may never admit it, but sources say her superstar husband may be contributing to the debilitating headaches. His high energy is often hard to keep up with — and that, paired with her intense need to live up to his expectations, is really taking its toll, both mentally and physically.

"Katie doesn't get enough sleep — and hasn't for months now," says one insider. "She's tired and drained much of the day because Tom is so wired, and they stay awake until after midnight. He has boundless energy, and she just can't compete."

This caught my eye....

I refuse to believe that Suri is anything but an IVF baby....

Tom Cruise 'refuses to consider IVF'
Tom Cruise has reportedly refused to have IVF treatment in a bid to conceive a baby with wife Katie Holmes.

The actress is rumoured to be growing increasingly concerned that she has been unable to fall pregnant for the second time.

Now reports that Holmes was desperate to undergo the fertility treatment but Cruise banned it because it is frowned on by the Scientology movement.

A source said: "Katie's concerned about Suri being lonely as she's kept in a bit of a Scientology bubble. She wants her to have a playmate.

"Tom keeps telling her to focus on Scientology methods of creating “positive energy” to become pregnant, which he's convinced worked the first time around, but Katie's losing patience.

“She’s getting frantic and the worst thing is she knows that the more stressed she becomes, the less likely she is to conceive.”

Trouble in TomKatland!

By Simon Reynolds, Entertainment Reporter

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are reportedly in dispute over how to celebrate daughter Suri's second birthday, according to the National Enquirer.

Cruise is allegedly planning to spend $500,000 on a lavish birthday party but Holmes believes it may be too extravagant.

"Tom is out to make Suri’s second birthday a spectacle like no other child has ever had," a source is quoted as saying.

The insider added: "Katie believes wholeheartedly it would set a bad example. She doesn’t want her daughter to be a spoiled Beverly Hills rich kid who expects the biggest and the best for the rest of her life... She’s all for a nice party, but nothing ostentatious."

US reports claim Cruise wants to bring in an international cuisine, with a $60,000 cake, and acrobats from Cirque de Soleil costing $100,000.
