Deadline.com reports that Universal Pictures has acquired the $65 million budget "Ted," an R-rated comedy that will mark the feature directorial debut of Seth MacFarlane. The film, which was developed by Media Rights Capital, is a comedy about a man and his teddy bear.
The feature will mix live action and CG with MacFarlane also co-starring and providing the voice for the title character. The Hollywood Insider blog says the story centers on a seemingly normal man who, as a child, made a wish that he could talk to his bear, only to have his bear come alive.
The bear grows up alongside the man but one day the man's girlfriend poses an ultimatum: her or the bear. Sources told HI that MacFarlane wants to cast Mila Kunis, who has voiced Meg Griffin on "Family Guy" since 1999, as the girlfriend.

Vince Vaughn: Is this really the biggest star in Hollywood?
Vince Vaughn, top of a new Hollywood pay league? Tom Cruise near the bottom? It's little wonder that filmgoers are puzzled. The numbers simply don't add up, says Kaleem Aftab
If you want to make money in Hollywood, employ Vince Vaughn. That's the conclusion arrived at in a survey of the "best value" actors, which has led to film accountants checking the stars' payslips, asking whether they are really worth all those zeros. The agents of actors who fared badly were straight on their phones talking up the value of their clients as Hollywood does what it does best - talk money.
The US business magazine Forbes published its Top 35 "Ultimate Star Payback" league table last week. It calculated a star's value by looking at the three most recent movies of actors who starred in films that opened on more than 1,000 screens in the five years to 1 January this year.
Forbes then calculated the gross income for each film by adding half of the worldwide box-office and the first three months of wholesale DVD revenues, and subtracting the budget. Gross income was then divided by the actor's total compensation to derive his or her payback figure.

The Dark Knight
Saw TDK yesterday and I know there's been a lot of hype on the net for a while and things built up about it and I've read the critics' reviews. Here's what Spin thinks:
OMG GO SEE THE MOVIE IT IS AWESOME!!! Be warned though, they throw stuff at you hard and fast, it can, at times, be a challenge to keep up with the story. I'm not too sure how some critics got the idea that the story was choppy, it wasn't. It was fast but it was well written and well acted.
Christian Bale gave a fabulous and easy performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Heath Ledger as the Joker was the best protrayal yet. He owned the role, he was totally convincing as the sociopathic clown. Ledger's portrayal gave new insight into what makes the Joker tick. It is really sad that he died, I would have loved to see him perform more as the Joker. This role would have been his gateway to serious dramatic work. He was that good. Was he Oscar good? Maybe.
Maggie Gyllenhaal was superb as Rachel, she gave an easy grace to the role that Katie Holmes just couldn't pull off.
I don't have any real complaints about the production....yes it is 2 1/2 hours but you don't get bored. One thing I noticed, in comparison with Iron Man, is that "the girl" in both movies (Pepper in Iron Man, Rachel in TDK) said the same thing to the respective hero, "Don't make me the reason you want to have a normal life." That's probably the only thing that bothered me, that this seems to be becoming a common theme with the heroine.
Go see it, you may want to see it two or three times to be able to catch everything that goes on. I would judge it as the best movie of the summer, with Iron Man at a close #2.

And Captain America to be played by.....
Leo DiCaprio or Brad Pitt??!! Actually, I can't think who I would want to play Capt. America....or Thor for that matter! from the Tipster:
If you're gonna dream, dream big, as Marvel Studios is reportedly doing with its wish list for its upcoming Captain America. According to Latino Review, the two names topping the studio's most wanted list as potential Cap'ns: Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. DiCaprio, who earlier this week signed on to play Atari founder Nolan Bushnell in a biopic, seems unlikely to step up for the project, especially since he reportedly turned down the offer to play Spider-Man when that franchise launched, with DiCaprio pal Tobey Maguire, in 2002. Pitt, meanwhile, has been rumored for months to be the top choice for an adaptation of the Thor comics, but he's also, according to Latino Review, the number-two pick for Captain America. Both stars already have fully packed schedules, with DiCaprio also committed to Martin Scorsese's Teddy Roosevelt biopic, the thriller The Chancellor Manuscript and historical drama Freedom Within the Heart, while Pitt is attached to the Terrence Malick-directed sci-fi adventure Tree of Life, the boxing drama The Fighter and the Watergate drama Dirty Tricks.
