Mel Gibson reportedly lost control and lashed out at members of the church he attends in Agoura Hills, California on Sunday.

The actor berated the congregation after becoming upset with gossip surrounding his personal life, Radar Onlinereports.

"Mel’s completely lost it," one source said. "[His] holier than thou world is falling apart around him."

It it understood that the Lethal Weapon star paced back and forth, angrily telling the churchgoers that "he would not stand by and be judged and scrutinised".

"Mel got up on this stage - the altar - and went off," the insider added. "He tried to intimidate the parishioners by staring at everyone with his angry eyes. [He] even threatened to shut down the church if people kept gossiping about him.

"He created this mess, and now he’s trying to control it."

Gibson, 53, divorced his wife Robyn after 28 years of marriage in April. His current girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is expecting their first child.

"Oksana is merely one of the artists on Mel's recording label Icon and is currently in the US recording a new album. She's a musician," the Daily Telegraph quoted him as telling the publication. His comment comes after the publication of reports that Gibson became close with the Eastern European lady while filming his new movie Edge Of Darkness.

The publication, Women's Day, brought out many occasions when the two have been seen together in Gibson's trailer, claiming that their relationship has been a hot topic on the set.

Talk about an odd pairing! Britney Spears and Mel Gibson are said to be jetting off to Costa Rica together as we speak! They left on a private plane, along with Britney's dad Jamie, this morning. Mel has a home in Costa Rica where they will all be staying.

It seems so random, but since Britney and Mel are neighbors in Malibu, maybe they have gotten to know each other over the years. Either way, it's probably good for Britney to get away for a little bit, although her kids aren't able to go along since she needs a special permit to take them out of the country.

Gibson restores Britney's faith in God

Mel Gibson has helped Britney Spears to rediscover her faith in God, according to a report.

The troubled singer has been transformed after receiving help and advice from Gibson in recent weeks. She has even agreed to perform a set of songs next month at the Holy Family Catholic Church in California, which was founded by the actor in 2004.

"They are working on arrangements and will agree on something in time for Britney singing at a Sunday service in late April," a source told The Mirror. "There is the possibility that she may even have a new song written for her for the occasion."

The insider added: "He is acting as a kind of mentor to help her rediscover God. He is thrilled that she has agreed to come to his church."

Mel and Britney have known each other for two years and own neighbouring homes in Malibu. A recent report claimed that Gibson had asked Spears to star as Joan of Arc in a new movie.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ a construction worker committed suicide at one of Mel Gibson's homes today.



It happened at Mel's Agoura Hills home -- near Malibu. The construction worker was 48-years-old. We're told he hanged himself. The body was found by the job site foreman.

The Sheriff's substation in Lost Hills took the call at 8:07 AM -- that's the same station where Mel was taken after his DUI arrest in 2006.

Mel was not at the house when the body was discovered. A law enforcement source says no one from Gibson's family was living at the house -- it is currently under heavy construction.

The house is less than a mile from his church -- The Holy Family Catholic Church -- where Mel's daughter was married back in September, 2006.

Mel has never lived on the compound.

UPDATE: Law enforcement sources say the body was found hanging in the addition to the home that was being built and was in "full-body rigor mortis" and the hanging could have occurred last night.
