Gibson restores Britney's faith in God

Mel Gibson has helped Britney Spears to rediscover her faith in God, according to a report.

The troubled singer has been transformed after receiving help and advice from Gibson in recent weeks. She has even agreed to perform a set of songs next month at the Holy Family Catholic Church in California, which was founded by the actor in 2004.

"They are working on arrangements and will agree on something in time for Britney singing at a Sunday service in late April," a source told The Mirror. "There is the possibility that she may even have a new song written for her for the occasion."

The insider added: "He is acting as a kind of mentor to help her rediscover God. He is thrilled that she has agreed to come to his church."

Mel and Britney have known each other for two years and own neighbouring homes in Malibu. A recent report claimed that Gibson had asked Spears to star as Joan of Arc in a new movie.

In Praise of BEEERRR!

Looking for a good excuse to tip back a beer?

You don't have to wait for St. Patrick's Day. That's because a decade's worth of health research shows that regular, moderate beer intake--one to two 12 ounce glasses per day for men and one for women--can be good for you, especially if you're facing some of the most common diseases related to aging.

Experts say wine tends to get most of the attention when it comes to the health benefits of alcohol primarily because of the French paradox, a reference to the relatively low rate of heart disease in France in spite of a diet high in saturated fat. The idea is that daily sips of Merlot make the difference.

This caught my eye....

I refuse to believe that Suri is anything but an IVF baby....

Tom Cruise 'refuses to consider IVF'
Tom Cruise has reportedly refused to have IVF treatment in a bid to conceive a baby with wife Katie Holmes.

The actress is rumoured to be growing increasingly concerned that she has been unable to fall pregnant for the second time.

Now reports that Holmes was desperate to undergo the fertility treatment but Cruise banned it because it is frowned on by the Scientology movement.

A source said: "Katie's concerned about Suri being lonely as she's kept in a bit of a Scientology bubble. She wants her to have a playmate.

"Tom keeps telling her to focus on Scientology methods of creating “positive energy” to become pregnant, which he's convinced worked the first time around, but Katie's losing patience.

“She’s getting frantic and the worst thing is she knows that the more stressed she becomes, the less likely she is to conceive.”

Aren't Catholics against suicide?

does that make Mel's house haunted or tainted or something?

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ a construction worker committed suicide at one of Mel Gibson's homes today.

Photobucket

It happened at Mel's Agoura Hills home -- near Malibu. The construction worker was 48-years-old. We're told he hanged himself. The body was found by the job site foreman.

The Sheriff's substation in Lost Hills took the call at 8:07 AM -- that's the same station where Mel was taken after his DUI arrest in 2006.

Mel was not at the house when the body was discovered. A law enforcement source says no one from Gibson's family was living at the house -- it is currently under heavy construction.

The house is less than a mile from his church -- The Holy Family Catholic Church -- where Mel's daughter was married back in September, 2006.

Mel has never lived on the compound.

UPDATE: Law enforcement sources say the body was found hanging in the addition to the home that was being built and was in "full-body rigor mortis" and the hanging could have occurred last night.

Michael Stipe comes out!

Stipe ready to be open about sexuality

Rex Features

REM's Michael Stipe has claimed that he is now prepared to be open about his sexuality.

The music veteran only confirmed he was gay in 2001 when he identified himself as a "queer artist" in an interview with Time magazine.

However, the singer now believes artists should speak openly about their feelings because it may help young fans dealing with their sexuality.

He told Spin: "It was super complicated for me in the '80s. I was totally open with the band and my family and my friends and certainly the people I was sleeping with. I thought it was pretty obvious.

"I didn't always see that. But I see now, of course that's the case, of course that's needed. I'd just never felt strongly enough about a particular relationship to say, 'Yeah, he's my boyfriend, that is what it is'.

"Now I recognise that for public figures to be very open about their sexuality helps some kid somewhere."

Hopalong Mills a Liar but divorce settled

Sorry it's so long. from gossip rocks:

In his full ruling on the McCartney divorce, the judge was highly critical of Heather Mills's evidence. Mr Justice Bennett wrote:
"The husband’s evidence was, in my judgment, balanced. He expressed himself moderately though at times with justifiable irritation, if not anger. He was consistent, accurate and honest.
"But I regret to have to say I cannot say the same about the wife’s evidence.

He went on to criticise Miss Mills's claims:
"I have to say I cannot accept the wife’s case that she was wealthy and independent by the time she met the husband in the middle of 1999. Her problem stems from the lack of any documentary evidence to support her case as to the level of her earnings."

He continued:
"During her cross-examination she asserted for the first time that in addition to property assets she had £2m-£3m in the bank. No mention of such assets was made in her affidavit. There is no documentary evidence to support that assertion. During the hearing she was asked repeatedly to produce bank statements, which she said she thought she had in Brighton, to verify this claim. No bank statements were ever produced.
"I do not doubt that she modelled successfully and was a public speaker. But the investigation in this case of her assets and earnings as at 1999 when the parties met do not bear out her case."

After addressing her financial claims in detail, he concluded:
"I find that the wife’s case as to her wealth in 1999 to be wholly exaggerated."

After analysing the couple's finances, the judge dismissed Miss Mills's claim that their cohabitation began in March 2000:
"I reject the wife’s case on this issue. Thus, their true and settled relationship lasted from marriage (June 2002) and not from March 2000."

He was sceptical about Miss Mills's claims that her husband hampered her own career:
"There are other examples, in my judgment, which, contrary to the wife’s case, show that the husband was supportive of, or furthered, the wife’s career."

He cited the example of a lecture series in the US run by a man called Mr Benia. Miss Mills had claimed that Sir Paul prevented her from doing further lectures:
"The husband, in my judgment, gave compelling evidence that no-one tells the wife what to do. This accords with his written evidence that the wife is very strong willed. Indeed watching the wife give evidence and present her case she came across to me as strong willed and very determined. I have no doubt that had the wife really wanted to contract for dates through Mr Benia she would have done it and the husband would not have stood in her way."

Addressing Miss Mills's claim that Sir Paul failed to contribute to her charity work:
"I have to say that the facts as I find them to be do not support the wife’s case. Within two months of the parties meeting in May 1999 the husband donated £150,000 to the wife’s charity (the Heather Mills Health Trust). In December 2002 and again in December 2003 the husband made a gift of £250,000 outright to the wife, thus plainly giving her the opportunity to make donations to charity."

He concluded:
"I find that, far from the husband dictating to and restricting the wife’s career and charitable activities, he did the exact opposite, as he says. He encouraged it and lent his support, name and reputation to her business and charitable activities. The facts as I find them do not in any way support her claim. “Compensation” therefore does not arise."

He went on to acknowledge Miss Mills's role as a wife and mother, but rejected her claim that her commitment to the marriage was "exceptional":
"In my judgment the picture painted by the husband of the wife’s part in his emotional and professional life is much closer to reality than the wife’s account. The wife, as the husband said, enjoys being the centre of attention. Her presence on his tours came about because she loved the husband, enjoyed being there and because she thoroughly enjoyed the media and public attention.
"I am prepared to accept that her presence was emotionally supportive to him but to suggest that in some way she was his “business partner” is, I am sorry to have to say, make-belief."

He continued:
"I have to say that the wife’s evidence that in some way she was the husband’s “psychologist”, even allowing for hyperbole, is typical of her make-belief. I reject her evidence that she, vis-à-vis the husband, was anything more than a kind and loving person who was deeply in love with him, helped him through his grieving and like any new wife tried to integrate into their relationship the children of his former marriage.

"I wholly reject her account that she rekindled the husband’s professional flame and gave him back his confidence."

and listened to her give evidence, having studied the documents, and having given in her favour every allowance for the enormous strain she must have been under (and in conducting her own case) I am driven to the conclusion that much of her evidence, both written and oral, was not just inconsistent and inaccurate but also less than candid. Overall she was a less than impressive witness."

Will Smith a Part of The Dark Side

We lost him!

from handbag gossip:

Men In Black star and friend of Tom Cruise Will Smith is believed to have joined up with the Church Of Scientology. Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith have joined the controversial Church Of Scientology sources claim. A Church insider has told MSNBC’s The Scoop that the Church is striving to recruit more African American members and believes Will can help them achieve their goals. Despite recently publicly denying having been recruited by the organisation Will is now “definitely” a member, the source claims. “He’s been getting more and more involved. And it isn’t just him, it’s definitely Jada, too. You’d think he’d sort of help fly the flag with Tom, who seems to only get a bad rap for it, while Will does this and comes through just fine.” Tom maybe it’s your dancing that’s been putting people off?

SPLITSVILLE!!!

from handbag gossip:

Madonna and Guy Ritchie are to split after eight years of marriage sources claim.Guy Ritchie and Madonna are set to split after "falling out of love with each other" sources have told the News Of The World. The paper claims the couple plan to officilly announce their split in 18 months time to give Madonna the chance to finish the PR for her new album and for the couple to divise a suitable press strategy. "Madonna and Guy are over. It's all very amicable. They've just fallen out of love with each other. They just think it's for the best as after some great years together they've been going their separate ways. Guy has failed to show up at events which are important to Madge. He just hasn't taken as much interest as he has previously in what she's doing."

*Maybe it was just too much pushiness on her part forcing the David adoption, wanting her way and not considering Guy's feelings*
