I thought Mormons were really strict and rigid in their beliefs. Wait, didn't Marie Osmond get divorced? Maybe she's not THAT Mormon....from digital spy:

Marie Osmond has denied that she is ashamed of her daughter Jessica's sexuality.

The country singer, who has eight children, rejected tabloid reports that her Mormon faith is proving a problem for accepting that her daughter is a lesbian.

"I love my daughter, she's my baby girl... So what if she's gay," Contactmusic quotes her as saying.

The 49-year-old went on to criticise people who claimed that her acceptance goes against her Mormon beliefs.

"I think it's sad when we have to separate something from society... There are a lot of women out there who have gay children, who cares?" she said. "I want love. I'm a Christian and Christ was that way - he loved everybody."

Osmond recently gave her full support to Jessica to marry her partner of three years.

"You know, on those types of things I'm very supportive. When it comes to marriage, I think that civil rights need to be for all," she told Advocate.
