Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt want it to be known that they didn't dis Pitt's ex wife Jennifer Aniston. The battle of the A-listers hit a peak this week as a role that was allegedly created for Jennifer was snatched by Angelina Jolie.
The common theme was that Jolie and Pitt had snatched the role right out from under Jennifer, dissing the ex-wife with a final twist as this had been rumored for some time to be Jennifer Aniston's role and possibly even her chance for an Oscar.
Gatecrasher gave this lede in today's column. "Stealing a woman's husband is bad enough, but her Oscar vehicle, too? That's cold."But the Pitt-Jolie team dispatched a rep to say that it was just not true.

Contrary to reports claiming that Pitt's ex, Jennifer Aniston, was earlier cast as Mariane Pearl, a rep for Pitt and Jolie tells PEOPLE, "Jennifer was never attached to that role. When the project was first brought to Plan B, Jen was a partner in the company at the time." It has now been reported that Angelina Jolie will play Mariane Pearl - widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl-in a Brad Pitt-produced film.
Jennifer won't be involved.
For her part, Mariane Pearl says she's pleased with the developments. "I am delighted that Angelina Jolie will be playing my role in the adaptation of my book," Pearl said yesterday. "I deeply admire her work and what she is committed to."
